Jojo Rabbit

An incredibly unique analysis of the dangers of nationalism, the idiocies of Nazi ideology, and the blindness that propaganda can breed. That it's bundled up in reams of dark humour and some brilliant performances is just the cherry on top.

Emma

A perfectly pointless plot that has been brilliantly acted, directed, and designed.

Four Weddings and a Funeral

An enjoyable romp with some excellent character moments, spoiled by having a central romance that felt stilted and immoral at the best of times, but then saved by a brilliantly emotional and heartfelt funeral scene.

Black Panther

A beautiful and iconic introduction to one of the more interesting MCU characters, with epic action and a plot that adds some much-needed real-world impact to the MCU.

Season one is a meta-humour comedy masterpiece, with an exceptional cast and so many inventive, out-of-the-box ideas it's baffling. From there, it's a bit up-and-down, but it stays just as loveable, exciting, and entertaining throughout. Plus, paintball... 'nuff said!

The World's End

Still funny, still action packed, and still with a great cast... but a little of the magic has slipped at this point. It's a competent close to the Cornetto Trilogy, but it will forever be overshadowed by the films that came before it.

Hot Fuzz

An utterly brilliant, inventive comedy with an amazing creative team, cast, and sense of British humour. Superb.

Onward

A fun film with a great cast and some very imaginative modernisation of traditional fantasy tropes. It may lack the normal depth and spark of a Pixar film, but it's far from being a waste of time.

Rocketman

A fascinating look into the life of one of music's biggest stars, made real by a brilliant cast and incredible leading performance by Taron Egerton.

The Personal History of David Copperfield

A fantastical romp through the imagination of a man whose life seems set to conspire against him, all set in true Victoriana. Combine with an exceptional cast and some clever dialogue and the result is delightful.

Shaun of the Dead

Brilliantly funny, scary, and sharp. Still very much deserving of its cult status and prestige, plus boasting a ridiculously good cast in hindsight.

Giri/Haji

A riveting, introspective look at grief, honour, and familial duty through the joint lens of Japanese and British cultures. With a great storyline and some brilliant characters, it's near perfect with only a slightly jolty ending as a minor hiccough. Well worth a watch.
