I loved this film when it first came out. It's one of the only films I've been to see in the cinema multiple times, because people kept asking me if I wanted to go with them and, for once, I actually did. I'm glad to say that – over a decade later – it still holds up incredibly well. The plot, the jokes, the cast, the action, hell, even the effects are all still solid. It's just a great movie! From Depp's opening escape sequence to the double-bluff commandeering; Will's intricate sword fighting in the smithy; Barbosa's horrifying revelation to Elizabeth; the final battle in the caverns; the revelation of the rum runners and subsequent loss of said rum; the final battle in the caverns; the film is packed with iconic moments that just make me grin. It's great!
